Designing for Every User- Neurodiversity in the Workplace
October 19, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am
FreeAbout this event
Speaker: Dr Sally Augustin
How we process the sensory information we collect from the world around us has a dramatic effect on how we think and behave, whether we are successful in our professional endeavors or not. Some humans process the inputs available to them in ways that differ from the way that many others do and that can meaningfully affect their performance and wellbeing at work.
The goal of this session is not to discuss designing for any sort of disability but to review designing to support individuals who process information in ways that vary from the majority.
Potential at-work sensory processing differences with reasonable design-related solutions will be discussed. These include atypical sensory channel operation (for instance deafness or being hard-of-hearing), deferentially sensitive processing (as experienced by highly sensitive people, for example), being on the autism spectrum, having ADHD, being dyslexic, and personality- and professional-training based differences in responses to design.
