Assessments and Career Strategy
October 4, 2024 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Free
Marge McGee, Career Advisor with RochesterWorks, will discuss why it is important to do self-reflection and uncover what makes you uniquely qualified and effective for your target job. Assessments are great, but assessments alone will not give you “an answer.” They provide data to use to explore how you want to contribute, how you want to be valued, what that role may be, and how to articulate that message to potential employers and your network. The presentation will cover how to use the information to research and clarify the role and work environment you’d prefer and how your combination of skills, interests, values, and personal attributes add value for the employer. We’ll also look at how this core message is woven into your resume and other marketing material to attract the right employer who will value what you have to offer.
Note: We will not complete exercises during the presentation, but exercises will be shared with session participants to complete later.
Who should attend who:
• Found they couldn’t fully use their skills – or could develop their skills – at work.
• Continuously finds themselves bored or unhappy at work.
• Loved their last/current job and wants to find more of the same.
• Loved their work but quit because of their employer.
• Feels they can do more, but doesn’t know what that means.
