SUMMARY:LinkedIn & Jobscan
DESCRIPTION:When seeking employment\, you just GOTTA have a Linkedin profile and one that is well filled out\, enough to make a recruiter pause more than 1/2 second. And\, if you wish for your resume to get past the Applicant Tracking System bots to even make it onto the desk of the recruiter\, you’ll most certainly want to learn about the amazing software platform JobScan. \nLaunch Pad Job Club Founder Kathy Lansford Powell leads this satellite class on today’s most important tools to the job seeker. \nHere is the Zoom login information as Eventbrite has made it most difficult to add Zoom to our satellite classes. Please copy and paste into an appt. on your calendar: \nJoin Zoom Meeting: \nZoom Link \nMeeting ID: 873 5677 9536 Passcode: 842660 \nJoin the job club any Friday. SUMMARY:4 myths about making a career change
DESCRIPTION:Why does it seem like so many people have made career changes? \nHow did they do it? 🤔 \nThis was the question I was asking myself when making my career change. \nBy all measures my career pivot ended up being a raging success. I pivoted from teaching high school to working at Microsoft in four months. \nBut it almost didn’t happen. \nLet’s back up to the summer of 2014. \nI knew I wanted a role in tech\, so I did what most people do – I started on LinkedIn. \nBut LinkedIn’s algorithm told me I wasn’t qualified for anything except what I had already been doing. \nLinkedIn was wrong.😯 \nNot only did I land a role at Microsoft\, but a year after that\, I was in my dream job at a startup that went public. \nIn four years I was able to 2.3x my income and become a hiring manager\, building and leading a team of 8. \nBut I knew that I wasn’t special. I saw how much the career landscape was changing and how hiring teams NEEDED career changers.
