We are a nonprofit organization sponsored by The San Francisco Chamber of Commerce\, and we are here to help! \nJob seeking can be hard and stressful. We know sometimes you just have questions and want real advice. Our staff of professional volunteers will spend the time to understand you and help you take the next steps in your job search. \nEach Wednesday\, we have a rotating panel of three experts in their respective fields. Though the specific industry of the panelist may not be your own\, there is plenty of valuable information that can be taken from each meeting. Anyone who joins our virtual meeting will get a chance to speak to these advisors and get insight on questions they might have. You now have the option of submitting your resumes and LinkedIn profiles for instant feedback. \n• Each attendee gets a turn. While you are waiting for your turn\, you get to hear the advice and practical suggestions given to other attendees and apply them to your own situation. As an open forum to all participants\, you can also make suggestions to other participants. \n• When it is your turn\, you share a brief summary of your current situation\, goals\, and what you need help with. You can tell us whatever special circumstances or frustrating responses you are encountering as you look for your next job. \n• The panel asks questions and shares ideas\, feedback\, and resources that can help you focus your job search efforts and prioritize your next steps. \nThis week – NEW PRIZE DRAWING! \nThis week\, The Job Forum will be holding a drawing with two fantastic prizes! DESCRIPTION:Join us as we discuss and answer questions about the unique hiring paths (Schedule A) available to individuals with disabilities. \nAt the IRS\, we believe in the abilities of all our employees\, and we’re committed to hiring qualified individuals at all levels of our organization. Our goal at the IRS\, as an employer of individuals with disabilities\, is to be a model within the federal government and for companies in the private sector. \nDuring this information session\, we will provide an overview of IRS benefits\, the Schedule A hiring program and documentation requirements\, how to apply for positions with the IRS\, and provide tips for creating an effective resume. We will also be available to answer questions on the application process. ASL interpreters will be available during the event. \nAbout Schedule A: \nSchedule A is an Excepted Service appointing authority for Federal agencies to tap into a diverse talent pool of individuals with disabilities without going through the (often-lengthy) traditional hiring process. Eligible applicants must be a person with severe physical\, psychiatric\, or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities\, or intellectual disability\, psychiatric disorders\, muscular or neurological disorders. Other less obvious disabilities are also subject to eligibility such as lupus\, AIDS\, diabetes\, or heart disease. Other groups that may apply using the Schedule A appointment authority are disabled veterans with a 30% or more rating from the Department of Veterans Affairs or Department of Defense. DESCRIPTION:The Job Forum Presents: “1-On-1 Advising\,” Personal Career & Job Search Advice with expert professionals. \nWhether you are actively job searching\, considering a career change\, returning to the workforce\, or otherwise focusing on the next steps in your career\, the process can feel a bit lonely at times. \n  \nThat’s why The Job Forum is here\, we are offering “1-on-1 Advising” sessions. Our expert volunteer panelists who are Managers from a variety of Bay Area Companies\, Seasoned Recruiters\, and Career Coaches are here to provide you guidance and advice for your next steps in your career and job search. \n  \nYou will work with an expert panelist to enhance and develop the skills and confidence you need to be successful in today’s job market. Together\, you will evaluate your short- and long-term career goals. \n  \nThe Job Forum offers: \n30 minute “1-On-1 Advising” Sessions with a Job Forum Professional Advisor. The cost is only fee a $20 for one session and $50 if you book three sessions\, which is less than the average market rate. \n“1-on-1 Advising” sessions appointments can be conducted via phone or zoom \n  \nCareer Coaching appointments can cover a variety of topics\, including: \nExploring Career Options \nResume and Cover letter Review \nLinkedIn Consultation \nNetworking Techniques \nAdvice on Internship\, Job Search & Volunteering \nPractice Interview \nAdvice on Salary Negotiation \nand more. \n  \nAll our expert panelists have diverse backgrounds and personalities.
