SUMMARY:Neurodiversity Inclusive Design
DESCRIPTION:NEURODIVERSITY INCLUSIVE DESIGN is a webinar by Exceptional Individuals that discusses how we can create effective spaces (inclusing workspaces) for neurodivergent people. \nRegister now to secure your spot on this webinar! \nWe are living in a time of increased neurodiversity and awareness about ADHD\, Dyslexia\, Autism\, and others neurological states. In fact\, one in eight people are considered neurodiverse but fewer than 50 percent know it. Neurodivergents tend to be high energy\, out of the box thinkers\, excel in a crisis\, and be bold problem solvers\, but navigating the modern workplace can be a challenge. Not only is designing space to be inclusive the right thing to do\, there is a compelling business case for it as well. Space today needs to reflect the diverse makeup of organizations to set all up for success. \nWhat is Inclusive design \nInclusive design is a design process in which a mainstream product\, service or environment is designed to be usable by as many people as reasonably possible\, without the need for specialised adaptions. \nInclusion Day is about accepting\, supporting and embracing differences and diversity in a way that clearly shows all individuals are valued\, recognized\, and accepted for who they truly are. This involves demonstrating respect for the abilities\, beliefs\, backgrounds\, and cultures of those around you and engaging those with diverse perspectives\, so that others feel an unconditional sense of belonging for who they are. \nTo find out more about Exceptional Individuals and the support they offer please visit https://exceptionalindividuals.com/

SUMMARY:Direct Support Professional Careers for People with Disabilities
DESCRIPTION:Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) play a key role in supporting people with disabilities in attaining and retaining employment and fully integrating into their communities. They may serve as job coaches and provide ongoing training and support\, as well as help with daily living activities. Despite the critical work of DSPs\, the profession faces challenges including labor shortages\, high turnover\, and low wages. Yet\, especially in states that have taken steps forward mitigating these barriers\, the DSP profession can offer flexibility\, progressive wages\, benefits\, and inclusive\, accessible training to improve skills and care for clients. \nIn this webinar\, experts from the field will share their experiences in creating opportunities for people with disabilities to work as DSPs using customized employment and reasonable accommodations. Join us to learn about an innovative DSP Academy that trains people with disabilities to work as DSPs. RCM of Washington Chief Executive Officer Amy Brooks and Chief Innovation Officer Susan Brooks will describe RCM’s approach to training and employment placement. Two DSP Academy graduates\, Carlos Hilton Zacarias and Tinesha Gray\, will share their experiences participating in the training\, applying their skills as DSPs\, and excelling in a job that is inclusive and tailored to their abilities.
