Sibbald\, M.A.\, CCC-SLP\, ASDCS\, CYMHS \nHosted by: FAU CARD \nParticipants: Neurodiverse Adults \nJoin social-emotional learning expert and neurodiversity advocate Laura Sibbald in an interview style live session! The interview will discuss components of essential independent living skills\, including self-awareness\, self-monitoring\, and self-advocacy. Participants will be empowered to set personal goals\, identify healthy coping skills\, and explore new situations with confidence. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions and participate in the discussion. \nTraining Objectives \n• Attendees will differentiate self-awareness\, self-monitoring\, and self-advocacy skills. \n• Attendees will identify targeted tools to support self-advocacy across settings \n• Attendees will discuss personal empowerment and the ability to make positive\, independent decisions \n\n\nAbout the Presenter \nLaura K. Sibbald\, MA\, CCC-SLP\, ASDCS\, CYMHS is coauthor of the Trauma-Informed Social-Emotional Toolbox for Children & Adolescents (PESI\, 2020) and the Parenting Toolbox (PESI\, 2018). She was an invited speaker and moderator at PESI’s 2021 Autism Symposium\, where she also had the privilege of interviewing Dr. Temple Grandin in the keynote Different… Not Less. She is an active member of MSHA and ASHA committees\, and is currently the chair of the Alumni Advisory Council for the Speech-Language Hearing Science Department at George Washington University. Laura graduated from GWU in 2011 with a Master’s in speech-language pathology.

SUMMARY:NYC Autism Tech\, Innovation & Career Expo
DESCRIPTION:Supports and guidance for autistic young people and families are often expensive\, out of reach\, and can even cause more harm than good. \nWe want to showcase to you\, with a variety of speakers\, exhibitors\, vendors\, and demonstrations – that modern tech and innovation can support autistic young people to accept themselves – and families to embrace their autistic young people more authentically and affordably. \nA key goal of our event – is to provide a direct access to autism inclusive employers\, where they can build careers in a field that they love. The unemployment rate for autistic young adults is around 84% – we want to play our part to drastically improve that with our event. \nThere will be speakers and workshops throughout the day. \nOur Keynote Speaker is Jude Morrow – Autistic author\, motivational speaker\, 2x TEDx Speaker\, and Founder of Neurodiversity Training International. \nAlso Speaking is – Celest Austin MD – Founder of GoManda – a tech inspired app that helps autistic children learn and communicate in their already wonderful autistic way. \nThere will be expert panels to discuss: \nNeurodiversity employment and job matching for young adults with autism\nTechnology supports for children and young adults with autism\nAllies/advocates–how do we best support our children and young adults with autism\, beginning with our own mindset and necessary planning\nIn person attendee tickets include access to the online platform. \nOnline tickets contain the keynote speeches\, online discussion boards\, networking opportunities and the catalogue of exhibitors. \nFor Vendors/Exhibitors- Do you want to showcase your innovations to your ideal audience? When purchasing an in-person vendor space – this includes space in the online platform catalogue complete with links.
